You have to admit, those funky turds are interesting when configured right.

Honestly, transit Vans are a secret crush of mine.

Nah, you already have the perfect vehicle for that

You and me both. If I ever gave up the Miata life a van build would probably be my next obsession
![]() 03/17/2019 at 22:25 |

Yeah, pretty perfect all rounder vehicles. Especially with 4wd or AWD

That car has braces

Actually I remembered that I’ve got a transit van at work. It’s.... Falling apart (2015, 40k miles) and has an uncomfortable driving position. The van build is super appealing to me but I might want to try a different base....

I have the dual cab AWD version of the latest model in my wishlist. It just hasn’t been launched in Oz yet...hurry up, Ford!!

Nice! One of my best friends lives out of a transit van. It’s been working very well for him
![]() 03/17/2019 at 23:14 |

Cosmetically falling apart (standard FERD experience , see my ST) or mechanically? I can live with one, not so much the other.

It isn’t in Canada either. I so want to test drive one

The Transit range is getting like Porsche, you say you want a 911, but have to follow it up with something like Turbo or GT3, etc...
You want a Transit, do you want a Courier, Connect, Custom or ‘Transit’ Transit which is available in four lengths and four heights.
![]() 03/17/2019 at 23:30 |
|
Here we only have the connect and actual transit.
Realistically? I’d take a custom

About an 80/20 cosmetic to mechanical issue ratio.
There’s been a check engine light for various problems the past 20k miles or so . But on the flip side it’s generally b een for things that are unimportant, and probably shouldn’t warrent a check engine light in the first place?

Honestly same, AIM too it looks like. Me and my friends want to get/crowdfund one when we graduate high school and go on a graduation trip to Miami Beach or something for a week using it as like our camper van or something. More likely to be a used Econoline or Express/Savana/whatever else, if I'm being realistic here

Ugh. Don’t get me started on unnecessary lights. The CX-3 has one of the touchiest TPMS systems.
If it goes 3-4PSI below the recommended , it triggers a tire pressure light and alarm in the cabin.
Makes me think we’ve had a blow out every time.

Van, crewcab or tourneo?
![]() 03/17/2019 at 23:43 |

We’ve got multiple Transits and Sprinters at work, all less than five years old. While some of the Transits have had issues (the engine on one ate itself, very loudly) the Sprinters have been far worse. The Transit is also massively better to drive.

Have you seen the walkthrough?
Also, I just want to take a moment to mention how idiotically fast the Ecoboost Transits are. 0-60 in 6.7. In a stock 5,000+ lbs van.
![]() 03/17/2019 at 23:45 |

Huh, I wouldn’t have guessed that. I’ve just got Transits and NV200s. The Nissans are.... Average?
Are there any other big players in the van world..?

I have! So cool.

The Courier is such a cute little guy.

Talk to cbell about the joys of the Ram ProMaster.

The Courier fits between the Fiesta van and
Transit Connect
Transit Courier is available in v an, crewcab and tourneo.

This is hopefully improved with the 2020 model that will have the 10 speed transmission, and even quicker yet when they put the gen 2 Ecoboost in some time later

I know the van. That is why we must never speak of it
![]() 03/18/2019 at 11:31 |

Of the “modern, Euro-style” vans it’s just the Transit, the Sprinter, and the Nissan. Oh, and the JustSayNoMaster. Chevy still makes their old school Express van though, if you’d rather go that direction.

Add about $1,500 in tuning and parts and that van is the ultimate sleeper. Luckily, the aftermarket for those ecoboost engines are pretty universal per model.

Does it have the sensor-less system that runs on wheel speed? My 2015 Mazda 3 was so touchy with that system.

I meeeeeeean:
The Transits are GOOD.

hell yeah! I’m surprised that no auto journalists live the van life. Seems like its cheaper than rent!

It’s tempting, but I may have too many Puffalumps.
